What is on the sheet

The sheet is our own layout, 1 landscape page. Along the top it lists the 10 phases and the points for cards left in your hand: 5 for number cards 1 to 9, 10 for number cards 10 to 12, 15 for a Skip card and 25 for a Wild card. It also repeats how the game is won.

Below that is the grid. It has 3 columns for each of up to 6 players: Phase, Points and Total. The Phase space has a tick box in it. A name line sits above each player’s columns. Down the left side are 17 numbered rounds.

How to fill it in

  1. Write each player’s name above their columns.
  2. At the start of each round, write the phase each player is trying in their Phase space. Everyone starts on Phase 1.
  3. When the round ends, tick the box for each player who laid down their phase, including players who did not go out.
  4. Write the points for the cards left in each player’s hand in their Points space. The player who went out writes 0.
  5. Add the points to the last Total and write the new Total. Totals only go up, and a low total is good.
  6. Next round, a player who ticked their box moves to the next phase. A player who did not tick it tries the same phase again.

The game ends when a player completes Phase 10 and that round is over. If 2 or more players complete it in that round, the lowest Total wins.

Keep score on a phone instead

The Phase 10 scorekeeper tracks the phase each player is on and their running points. After each round you mark who completed their phase and add the points left in each hand, with quick buttons for 5, 10, 15 and 25.

Printing tips

  • The sheet is 1 page for US Letter paper, in landscape. Choose landscape in the print box if your printer does not pick it up.
  • On A4 paper, choose fit to page so the right-hand columns are not cut off.
  • It holds up to 6 players and 17 rounds. For a long game, print a second sheet and carry the Totals over.
  • Use a pencil. Tick boxes and totals change often.

Questions

How many points is each card worth in Phase 10?

Number cards 1 to 9 are 5 points each, and number cards 10 to 12 are 10 points each. A Skip card is 15 points and a Wild card is 25. You score only the cards still in your hand when another player goes out. Lower is better.

How many points do you get for going out in Phase 10?

0. The player who goes out scores nothing for the round, and every other player scores the cards left in their hand. Cards you have laid on the table never count against you.

Do you move to the next phase if someone else goes out first?

Yes, if your phase was already on the table. You get credit for a phase the moment you lay it down, so tick its box on the sheet. Only players who did not lay down their phase try the same phase again.

What happens if two players finish Phase 10 in the same round?

The one with the fewest total points wins. Laying down Phase 10 does not end the game on the spot, so several players can complete it before someone goes out. If they are tied on points too, they replay Phase 10 and the first to go out wins.

Does the highest or lowest score win in Phase 10?

Points count against you, so a low total is good. The first player to complete Phase 10 wins when that round ends. If more than 1 player completes it in the same round, the one with the fewest total points wins.

What are the 10 phases in Phase 10?

In order: 2 sets of 3, then 1 set of 3 and 1 run of 4, then 1 set of 4 and 1 run of 4. Next come 1 run of 7, 1 run of 8 and 1 run of 9, then 2 sets of 4 and 7 cards of 1 color. The last two are 1 set of 5 and 1 set of 2, then 1 set of 5 and 1 set of 3.
